This classic piece is just as meaningful today as it was when it opened with the Moscow Arts Theatre in 1904. In it we follow the characters as they pursue their Hopes and Dreams in an unforgiving world that is passing them by. Madame Ranevskaya's estate known for its beautiful cherry orchard will soon be lost if the family does not take steps to save it. Madame Ranevskaya has just returned from Paris and a bad relationship in an attempt to escape to the memories of her past on the estate. Although many opportunities present themselves for her and her family to retain the estate, they are unable to come to grips with the reality of the situation, and eventually lose the entire estate.
