Marvin's Room is an extremely funny yet off beat look at the courage of the human spirit when faced with death. The main character, Bessie, must care for her ailing aunt and bedridden father when she herself learns that she has leukemia. She must now turn to her estranged sister and an arsonist nephew for help. This play illustrates the complexities of human nature and how relationships between family members can change when faced with tragedy. It brings out the best and worst in every person. Winner of the 1991 Dramatists Guild Hull-Warriner Award and the John Gassner Award. Winner of the 1992-Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Off-Broadway Play and the Drama Desk Award for Best Play.
