King Learby William Shakespearefrom St. Anthony Guild Players
Where - Robert Lee Brault Playhouse, 122 N. Chestnut Ave., Green Bay Performance dates: July 25 through July 26, 2003
“King Lear” is a play centered on filial ingratitude, justice, and revenge. The plot is hinged on the treachery of Lear’s two rebellious daughters who plunge Britain into a great civil war after they depose their father. Jealousy also plays a major role in the play as the never-ceasing battle between good and evil becomes a battle between legitimate and illegitimate heirs. The play contrasts the glories of royalty and the highest lord with the depths of poverty and the lowliest madman as it traces the last months of the mythical “King Lear” of Britain.
