Barefoot In the Parkby Neil SimonFrom Attic Theatre
Director: Herb Williams Performance dates: July 24 through August 2, 2003
Broadway's most successful playwright, Neil Simon, brings laughter and warmth to all audiences in "Barefoot in the Park." Two newlyweds, an inexperienced lawyer and his lovely and optimistic bride, move in to a Manhattan Greenwich Village apartment to begin their lives together. The honeymoon ends when the couple must climb five wheezing flights of stairs to find an apartment bare of furniture, a leaky skylight, a bedroom too small for a double bed, and a zany neighbor. The situation wears on the young lawyer and the happy couple begins to question their compatibility. Featuring zippy one-liners, lovable characters, and a plot that relates to everyone, this production will be one of the summer's most enjoyable. Seasoned director Herbert L. Williams directs the talented cast, including Susan Currie (Corie Bratter), Gerry Grosenick (Telephone Repair Man), Tim DuVall (Delivery Man), L. Doug Pire (Paul Batter), Nancy Ernst (Mrs. Banks), and Gary Zurbuchen (Victor Velasco). The design team is R. Thomas Burgess, set designer; Aaron Sherkow, lighting designer; and Samantha Fromm, costume designer. Miriam Ackermann is the stage manager. Advance tickets are available through Attic Theatre, 734-8797, and PO Box 41, Appleton, WI 54912. Tickets are also available at the door 45 minutes before each performance. www.attictheatreinc.org.
