King Learby William ShakespeareFrom Rebel Alliance Theatre
Director - Kelley Duhatschek Performance dates: August 8 through August 24, 2002
King Lear involves two main interwoven storylines - both concerned with power and family dysfunction and division. In the first, King Lear (Community actor Bill Roberts) and his three daughters (Resident actor Kristin Willert, Troupe actor Emily Frank, and Community actor Lindsay Williams) hold an entire nation hostage while they negotiate the delicate and often volatile borders of father-daughter relationships. In the other, The Duke of Gloucester (Community actor Allen DeWitt) and his sons, the legitimate Edgar (Lawrence Music Major Ken Hemba) and illegitimate Edmund (Troupe actor Chad Sheveland) find their relationships deeply affected by the state of national unrest. This production is set in England in 800BCE and also features Resident Actors Eric Pieper (Kent) and Kimberly Palmer (The Fool), Troupe Actors Natalie Noffke, Justin Fleck, Dan Meyer, and Justin Schrauth, and community actors Jo Falkner, Becky Fleck, Tina Grosek, Jessica Huszar, Craig Janssen, Kasie Janssen, Dane Stenson, and Peter Welch. Tickets are $4.00 for those 12 and under, $5.00 for students and seniors, and $6.00 for adults and are available at the box office beginning one half hour before each performance. Parents of children under twelve are advised that King Lear is rated PG on the R.A.T. Family Ratings System Scale due to some violent scenes and mature content. to Rebel Alliance Theatre is a non-profit, volunteer-based, community organization that runs a year-round production schedule and educational training program.
