From the author who penned Driving Miss Daisy, this charming and bittersweet comedy is set in Atlanta in 1939. While it’s Christmastime and Hitler is invading Poland, a segment of Atlanta’s Jewish elite is more concerned with who will be attending Ballyhoo, the social event of the season. The arrival of a handsome young man from New York forces the Southern family to deal with who they are as they are emotionally pulled apart and mended again. This gentle comedy with sweet romance and unexpected turns won a Tony Award for Best Play.
