"Electra" is a riveting drama of murder, intrigue and revenge. Although Sophocles had written it over 2,000 years ago, the power of this piece still affects audiences today as it did then. The story begins with Orestes, Electra's younger brother, returning from exile to aid her in the revenge of her father's death. This begins a cycle of violence which began when Electra's mother, Clytemnestra encouraged her lover Aegisthus to murder her husband upon his return from the war with Troy. The tension created by uncompromising vengeance vs. human tolerance between the characters in this play is the fuel which drives the play to its tragic conclusion.
