Do you like stories that touch your heart and challenge your perceptions? Do you like baseball? Are you a Chicago Cubs fan? A sports fan? Or are you ready for a fun evening of springtime laughter after a long Wisconsin winter? If you answered "Yes" to any of these questions, check out Rebel Alliance Theatre, 445 N. Main St., this May when R.A.T. is pleased to present Bleacher Bums, a nine-inning comedy created by actor Joe Mantenga and written by the Organic Theatre Company of Chicago.

Bleacher Bums is a fast-paced comedy about baseball and sports fan loyalty specifically the undying loyalty of Cubs fans. In it, the passion we feel for sports and the passion we feel for the arts come together to create a very special kind of shared experience. The nine people that come together in the cheap seats at Wrigley Field to tell this wildly funny, yet touching story of one springtime afternoon are brought there by their mutual need for community--one based on shared passion for an art in this case the art of baseball--and their identity with a heroic team of players that refuses to give in no matter how the steep the odds may be stacked against them.

The show runs May 4, 5, 11, 12, 18 and 19 at 8:00PM. Tickets are $4.00 for those 12 and under, $5.00 for students and seniors, and $6.00 for adults and are available at the box office beginning one half hour before each performance. Bleacher Bums is rated PG-15 on the R.A.T. Family Ratings System Scale due to occasional mild profanity and innuendo. Though those under fifteen may well enjoy this production, parents are encouraged to consider these elements and the maturity levels of their children when making choices about their attendance. For more information contact the box office at 426-8580.
