Green Bay Community Theater

Established in 1936 as a small club of theater enthusiasts, Green Bay Community Theater (GBCT) has grown into a regional community-based organization with hundreds of volunteers and an operating budget of $165,000. Housed in a converted church in the heart of the On Broadway district of Downtown Green Bay, GBCT presents 78 performances each year. GBCT is managed by a professional staff of three and governed by a nine-member Board of Directors. Volunteers provide 99% of the labor at the theater. From actors and crew, to ushers and office workers, the day-to-day operations are dependant upon volunteer energy from the community.

During its 70 years, Green Bay Community Theater has produced over 300 plays. Its home for the past 39 years has been the Robert Lee Brault Playhouse, a century-old church, which houses an acoustically perfect 195-seat theater with a 30’ x 24’ open-end stage. When GBCT is not performing, the facility is rented to local groups and businesses for a variety of functions. GBCT is governed by a nine-member volunteer Board of Directors who set theater policy. Creative positions are filled on a show-by-show basis with independent contractors. Volunteers provide 99% of the labor at the theater. From actors and crew, to ushers and office workers, the day-to-day operations are dependant upon volunteer energy from the community.
